Bessie E. was born on March 7th, 1898 in Kentucky.1 Bessie E.'s father was Samuel S., Rev. Underwood and her mother was Rachel Bell Judd. Her paternal grandfather was Abraham Hiram Underwood and her paternal grandmother is Mary Roark. She had two brothers and a sister, named Van Cleveland, Alfa D. and Lona B.. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John Lewis, Willis H., Malinda Jane, Mary J. and Catherine Elizabeth. She died at the age of 91 on December 6th, 1989 in Hodgenville, Larue Co., Kentucy.1 General Notes
