William Thomas was born on September 14th, 1881 in LaRue Co., Kentucky.1 William Thomas' father was William Anderson Skaggs and his mother was Martha Francis Nelson. His paternal grandparents were William L. Skaggs and Mary Johnson; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Jefferson Nelson and Rebecca E. DeSpain. He had four brothers and three sisters, named John Berton, Bennie Dever, Miles Talmadge, Henry Matt, Emma Green, Bessie Alice and Mary Lela Rebecca. He was the oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 87 on September 10th, 1969 in Jefferson Co., Kentucky.1 General Notes
