Melvina Jane Skaggs 
Melvina Jane was born in 1862 in LaRue, Kentucky.1 Melvina Jane's father was Henry Mitchell Skaggs and her mother was Lurena Elizabeth Carroll. Her paternal grandparents were Matthew Skaggs and Rebecca Orrick. She had four brothers and five sisters, named Thomas Mitchell, Joseph Henry, James Lewis, Marvin S., Lucretia, Mary Ann, Sarah Elizabeth, Marion and Chrisse C.. She was the third oldest of the ten children. She died at the age of 74 in 1936 in Leitchfield, Grayson, Co., Kentucky.1 General Notes
