William Conway was born on June 20th, 1832 in Greene Co., Tennessee.1 William Conway's father was James C. Senter and his mother was Frances Jackson. His paternal grandparents were William Senter and Jency Ann Butler; his maternal grandparents are Daniel Jackson and Anna Crosby Tolle. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Thomas Jackson, Patrick Hale, Mary Jane and Martha Ann Ophelia. He was the third oldest of the five children.
