Martha Elender (Mattie) Self 
Martha Elender (Mattie) was born on October 14th, 1886 in Kentucky.1 Martha Elender (Mattie)'s father was Greenberry Self and her mother was Elizabeth Lee Bostick. Her paternal grandparents were William Self and Margeret E Houchins. She had seven brothers and three sisters, named William Amos, Alfred L, Rance A, John Bell, Harden A, David, Charles S, Mary F, Ellen M and Lona Waggoner. She was the fourth youngest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 85 on March 12th, 1972 in Jefferson County, Kentucky. She was buried in Cub Creek Cemete.1 2 General Notes

th Ho spital. She was the former Mattie M. Self, a native of Edmonson Cou
nty, a nd lived at 7802 Mango Drive. Survivors include two daughters, Mr
s. Floren ce Kinser, of Brownsville, Ky., and Mrs Isthmie Whorley: seven s
ons, Wil ey Basham of Brownsville, Clifford and Fred Basham ; of North Sal
em, Ind ., Homer Basham of Salem, Ill., John T and Paul Basham, of Indiana
polis, a nd Everett Basham: 33 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren and f
ive great -great-grandchildren. The body will be at the Emerson Funeral Ho
me, 46 01 S Sixth, until 9:30 P.M. Monday, after which it will be tak
en to the Gr avil Funeral House in Brownsville. The funeral will be in t
he Red Hill Ge neral Baptist Church in Edmonson County, with burial in t
