Hiram was born in March 1873 in Kentucky.1 Hiram's father was Nicholas Ritchie and his mother is Rachel Summer. His paternal grandfather was John Ritchie and his paternal grandmother is Sylvania Sizemore. He had two brothers and a sister, named Edward, Henry and Elizabeth.
