James Madison Prestridge 
James Madison was born on September 11th, 1814 in Alabama.1 James Madison's father was Joseph N. Prestridge and his mother was Elizabeth D. Bagley. His paternal grandfather was John, Jr. Prestridge and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Waters. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Benjamin Bagley, Burton Rucker, Martin Armond, Timeon Howel, Joseph Jackson, George Hopper, Jensey Elenor, Malissa Mozell and Elizabeth Jane. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 78 on July 31st, 1893 in Alvarado, Johnson Co., Texas.1 General Notes

James Madison Prestridge was the eldest son of Joseph N & Elizabeth Ba
gl ey Prestridge. They were residents of the Mississippi Territory when A
lab ama was formed. As reflected in the Family Group Record preceeding, J
ose ph N. died in Alabama in 1836, and Elizabeth B is buried
in the Old Alvarado Cemetery.
James Madison Prestridge was ordained a deacon of the Clear Fork Bap
ti st Church in Alabama in 1849.
The James Madison Prestridges left Choctaw County, Alabama in 1868.
James Madison and Elizabeth Prestridge lived, at one time, on the Spar
ks p lace, on the South League road (FM1807), about one mile east of Will
ow Spr ings Baptist Church.
