Lola was born on February 28th, 1918 in Gideon, Cherokee Nation, Indian Territory.1 Lola's father was Homer Martin Mize and her mother is Jessie May Hicks. Her paternal grandparents were George B. McCellan Mize and Rosa Essafern Reynolds; her maternal grandparents are John Hicks and Mary Houston.
