Living's father was Homer Martin Mize and his mother is Jessie May Hicks. His paternal grandparents were George B. McCellan Mize and Rosa Essafern Reynolds; his maternal grandparents are John Hicks and Mary Houston. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Delbert D., Daniel, Living, Lola, Georgia Jewel, Corrie and Living.-
