Alice was born on December 13th, 1890.1 Alice's father was John D. Martin and her mother was Annie Brooke Griffith. Her paternal grandfather was David Martin and her paternal grandmother is Sarah Margaret Snider; her maternal grandparents are Louis Griffith and Mary Nichols. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Jesse, John Edward, Dave or Davis O., Jimmy, Annie B., Cora E., Lea Ola and Lola Jewell. She is the second oldest of the nine children.-
