They were both members fo the Provinc ial Co ngress during the Revolutionary period, and wre on the Committ ee of Corres pondence and Safety, " Enspection," in 1775, 1777, 1778, a nd 1779. At t he beginning of the Revolutionary War, Samuel was Lieutenant -Colonel in Co lonel Edmund Phinney's 31 st. regiment, "engaged April 2 4, 1775 and serv ed to Aug 01, 1775. He also appeared on a list of field a nd staff office rs of Captain John Brackett's company dated Sept 29, 177 5. Samuel was t he well known Col. Samuel March of Scarborough, Maine.
