Frances L Basham, 93, a volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Arlin
gt on County Library and the National Hospital for Orthopaedics and Rehabi
lit ation in Arlington, died of heart ailments March 30 at Leewood Nursi
ng Cen ter in Annapolis. A former Arlington resident, Mrs Basham was bo
rn near Fe rguson, Mo. She graduated from what is now Western Kentucky Uni
versity. S he was a home economics teacher in Louisville before movi
ng to the Washing ton area in 1926.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Gus O Basham of Annandal
e, a d aughter, Frances B Schmitz of Annapolis; a sister, Maud L Woodfo
rd of Wyth eville, Va., and two grandchildren. A son, William R Basham, di
ed in 198 6, and a daughter, Anne L Basham died in 1991. Newspaper Obitua
