James Lawson was born on February 5th, 1892 in Madison Co., North Carolina.1 James Lawson's father was Milford Wade Gosnell and his mother is Easter M. Fisher. His paternal grandfather is Wiley Gosnell and his paternal grandmother was Margaret Elizabeth Sams. He had four brothers and five sisters, named William H., Frank R., Coy E., John Devitus, Victoria, Callie, Mada, Nell and Ada. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
