Emory Purefoy was born on February 12th, 1828 in Brunswick County, NC.1   Emory Purefoy's father was William Bacot Gause and his mother was Piercy Peurifoy.  His paternal grandparents were William, Jr. Gause and Elizabeth Bacot; his maternal grandparents were William Peurifoy and Mary Brothers. He had four brothers and a sister, named Benson Kennedy, MacCarroll Bangs, Olen Bacot, Lucian Allston and Francis. He had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Thomas Frink, John William, Wesley Coke Asbury, Samuel Peter, William Fletcher, Elizabeth and Mary.  He died about 1890 in Texas.1 


Emory Purefoy's family with Caroline Narcissa Gardner

‌Emory Purefoy and Caroline Narcissa were married in a religious ceremony in November 1851 in Pike County, Georgia.1   They had five sons and six daughters, named Robert Emory, John William, Henry Clay, Olen Brantley, James T., Lenora Alethea, Mary, Martha Vorena, Frances, Josephine and Isabelle.
