Dewey was born on September 16th, 1899 in Green Co., Kentucky.1 Dewey's father was Marshall DeSpain and his mother was Alice G. Warren. His paternal grandfather was Joseph DeSpain and his paternal grandmother is Sarah Morrison; his maternal grandparents were Delaware O. Warren and Caroline Warren. He had a brother and a sister, named Ivy Lee and Mattie Ethyl. He was the oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother named Irvin L.. He died at the age of 79 in April 1979 in Plainfield, Hendricks Co., Indiana.1 General Notes
