Matilda Carpenter

Matilda was born in August 1896 in Spring Fork, Breathitt Co., Kentcky.¹ Matilda's father was Finley Carpenter and her mother was Nancy Ann Ritchie. Her maternal grandparents were Andrew Ritchie and Mahala Miller. She had a brother and two sisters, named Kenny, Ida and Dora. She is the second youngest of the four children.
