Samuel Martin was born on January 13th, 1889 in McLeansboro, Hamilton Co., Illinois.1 Samuel Martin's father was Thomas Curran Campbell and his mother was Emma Isaline Nation. His paternal grandparents were William Humes Campbell and Rachel Ann Garrison. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Charles Thomas, John Anderson, Benjamin Franklin, Ira Luther, William David, Charlotte and Harriett.
