Her paternal grandparents were James Bouldin and Sarah Ann Watkins. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Robert E., Stith, Charles Bedford, William Watkins, Bedford, Sarah Ann Watkins, Catherine Jane, Drucilla Williamson, Elizabeth Wesley and Martha.
