Family Info From Cynthia Basham Brown Letters
"The story that some of the family has told me is that Ida Lou Bell w
as s ent to a Mental Hospital and that she had spells that would cau
se h er to do abnormal things such as one time she took Robert out to t
he we ll and was holding him up side down and was going to drop him in t
he we ll when Henry grabbed Robert right before she dropped him.  Th
at is when s he was sent to the Mental Hospital.  Roberts Grandparents Bel
ls raised hi m.  Roberts father Henry left Mississippi and went to Texas a
nd remarrie d.  He took his son James Rueben with him and I think anoth
er child and le ft Roberts with the Bells.  Rueben came to visit one ti
me and went to s ee his mother took her out of the Mental Hospital for a v
isit before th ey took her back to the Hospital she had a spell.
The children I have for Henry and Ida Basham are James Rueben Basham, E
dw ard Basham, Robert Winsotn Basham, Alton Basham.  I was told that Edwa
rd a nd Alton was only 1/2 brothers to James and Robert.  Alton died young
