William Palestine (Bill) was born on August 29th, 1870 in Bonham, Fannin Co., Texas.1 William Palestine (Bill)'s father was Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and his mother was Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. His paternal grandparents were Johnson Basham and Susan A. Unknown. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Henry Lansford, Edward Franklin (Edd), Leonard Lawrence, Sam Estes, Phinis Malcome, Susan Elizabeth (Betty), Arrie Ellen, Ethel Erie and Cora 'May' Seeley. He was the second oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 92 on April 16th, 1963 in Colorado City, Mitchell Co., Texas.1 General Notes
