William O. (Rev) Bassham 
William O. (Rev) was born on September 19th, 1855 in Arkansas.1 William O. (Rev)'s father was Joseph P. Basham and his mother was Sarah A. Bell. His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Basham and Delilah Payne. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Henry Jonathan, James, John, Elizabeth Ellen, Abigail Suretha, Katie, Donana A. (Donnie) and Minnie L.. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He had eight half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Samuel, Joseph Lawrence, Thomas Lane, James 'Alvin', Jesse Isaac, C. B., Marian Clinton, Frederick Fenton, Sarah Delilah, Nannie Bell, Mary Lou 'Visa', Martha Adela, Alice Clementine (Tiny) and Ruth Amazon. He died at the age of 64 on December 31st, 1919 in Comanche Co., Texas.1 General Notes

Willie, another great uncle of mine by Joseph's first wife, was a very r
em arkable man. He had infantile paralysis when he was about fourteen y
ea rs of age. This disease took away the use of his left arm and pa
rt of t he use of his left leg. In spite of this handicap, he became a tr
avelli ng Methodist preacher in Arkansas and the Indian Territory. He tau
ght sch ool and did local preaching in Texas. One day while Willie was ri
ding thr ough Indian Territory, he was captured by the Indians. They ask
ed him wh at he was carrying with him. After searching him thoroughly, th
ey fou nd a Bible on him. When they saw the Bible, they let him go. Fami
