Phinis Malcome was born on May 13th, 1884 in Texas.1 Phinis Malcome's father was Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and his mother was Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. His paternal grandparents were Johnson Basham and Susan A. Unknown. He had five brothers and four sisters, named William Palestine (Bill), Henry Lansford, Edward Franklin (Edd), Leonard Lawrence, Sam Estes, Susan Elizabeth (Betty), Arrie Ellen, Ethel Erie and Cora 'May' Seeley.
