Living's father was Phinis Malcome Bassham and his mother is Myrtle Robison. His paternal grandparents were Francis Marion (Frank) Bassham and Louisa Lucretia (Lucy) Popnoe. He had four half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Frank Leuman (Buster), Othela, J. D., Fred Malcolm, Ira 'Sewella' Grace and Patricia 'Maye'.-
