Ella Magdalen was born on July 5th, 1928 in Florence, Auderdale Co., Alabama.1 Ella Magdalen's father was William Ashford Bassham and her mother was Mattie Elizabeth (Lizzie) Robertson. Her paternal grandparents were William J. Bassham and Martha Elizabeth Foust. She had two brothers and five sisters, named William Melvin, Johnnie Theopolis, Nellie Louise, Living, Living, Living and Living. She died at the age of 59 on March 11th, 1988 in Woodbridge, Prince William Co., Va.1 General Notes
