Mary Louisa was born about 1853 in Mississippi.1 Mary Louisa's father was Zedekiah Basham and her mother was Sarah Frost. Her paternal grandparents were Nathan Bassham and Cathrine Unknown. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Nathan, Wesley Houston, Susan Elizabeth, Sarah Jane and Martha. She is the youngest of the six children.
