Mabel Clair was born on November 23rd, 1895 in Birdston, Navarro Co., Texas.1 Mabel Clair's father was James Alexander Basham and her mother was Nellie Mae McCrary. Her paternal grandparents were James Hogan Basham and Emaline Rhodes; her maternal grandparents were Londia (Lonnie) McCrary and Dora Bell Sherrard. She had a sister named Beaulah Lee (Louise). She was the older of the two children. She died at the age of 94 on February 18th, 1990 in Venice, Sarasota Co., Florida.1 General Notes

Following her divorce from Raymond Burns Woolf Sr. in 1926, Mabel m
ov ed to Dallas, Texas with her two children, Raymond Burns Woolf Jr. a
nd Cat herine Louise Woolf. They lived for nearly a year with Patrick Flet
cher 's family, a first cousin to Raymond Burns Woolf Sr. Mabel took ba
ck her m aiden name of Basham and enrolled both children in school using t
he Bash am name.
In 1943, a routine security clearance check by Consolidated Aircra
ft of Fo rt Worth uncovered a discrepancy in Raymond Burns Woolf Jr.'s bir
th certif icate name. He had his name changed legally to Basham shortly th
ereafter.
