James Samuel Basham 
James Samuel was born on March 6th, 1864 in Franklin Co., Virginia.1 James Samuel's father was Jonathan Basham and his mother was Lucinda Preston. His paternal grandparents were John, Jr. Basham and Frances (Franky) Meadors. He had two brothers named William Sidney and Jonathan, Jr.. He was the oldest of the three children. He had five half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Joseph N. (Jesse), John, Jeptha, Thomas, Edward G., Mary F., Eliana, Chella and Rebecca. He died at the age of 83 on December 23rd, 1947 in Bonbrook, Franklin Co., Virginia.1 General Notes
