J. Mercer Basham 
J. Mercer was born on April 4th, 1893 in Breckenridge Co., Kentucky.1 J. Mercer's father was Adam Basham and his mother was Corda Bell Ater. His paternal grandparents were Richard B. Basham and Abigail Norton. He had five brothers named Ethel, Ernest, Infant, Myrtle (Mirl) and Jennie Ater. He was the second youngest of the six children. He died at the age of 79 on May 23rd, 1972.1 General Notes
