Henry Nelson was born on July 13th, 1839 in Breckenridge Co., Kentucky.1 Henry Nelson's father was Henry Dowell Basham and his mother was Cassandra Hardin. His paternal grandparents were Obediah Basham and Celia Dowell; his maternal grandparents were Daniel Hardin and Alice (Alsey) Jolly. He had seven brothers and five sisters, named Thomas Washington, Francis Logan, Daniel Hardin, James Allen, Obediah Peyton, Joel Hardin, Madison, Alice Jolly, Celia Dowell, Martha Ann (Mattie), Mary and Louisa Ellen. He was the fifth oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 80 on August 31st, 1919 in Curdsville, Daviess Co., Kentucky.1 General Notes
