Hattie Virginia Basham 
Hattie Virginia was born on May 10th, 1886 in Nicholas Co., West Virginia.1 Hattie Virginia's father was David Allen Basham and her mother was Minerva Jane Cox. Her paternal grandparents were Meador Basham and Polly (Mary) Hans. She had eight brothers and two sisters, named James Henderson, John Lewis, Sr., George Matthew (Preacher), Henry, Andrew J., Charles Lewis, Roy D., Allen, Mary J. and Gracie Pearl. She was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 46 on June 22nd, 1932. She was buried in Red Warrior, West Virginia.1 1 General Notes

There was never much talk about Hattie because it was rumoured that s
he s pent time on and off in institutions. Some family members say that s
he de veloped Alzheimers very early in life and that in the 1930's, they h
ad n ot diagnosed the illness yet, so she was sent to mental institution
s. Eve ry single one of her children that have lived to an old age ha
ve develop ed Alzheimers and only two survive at this time.
