Harvey Edward Basham 
Harvey Edward was born on August 21st, 1906 in Cook, Eastland Co., Texas.1 Harvey Edward's father was Solomon (Sol) Basham and his mother was Myrtle Emma Baker. His paternal grandparents were Henry William Basham and Elizabeth Nancy Greer. He had three half-brothers named Henry "Bill", Nolan (Buck) and Anna Mae. He died at the age of 84 on April 22nd, 1991 in Eastland, Eastland Co., Texas.1 General Notes

My parents were Soloman Basham and Mrytle (Baker) Basham. I w
as bo rn at my grandfather, John Baker's old home place in Cook communi
ty in 190 6, near Rising Star, Texas. When I was about two years old, S
ol Basham we nt to Weatherford to work and decided to marry again and stay
ed there a nd around Dennis and Brock, the rest of his life.
My mother and I lived with my grandpa Baker for several years and mo
th er finally married again and moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas. I remain
ed w ith my grandfather. He finally sold the old home place and mov
ed to Eastl and. While I lived in Cook with my Grandpa, our neighbors we
re Aunt Mar y, his oldest daughter and her husband Tillie Gardner, and the
ir childre n, Bill, Carrie, and Annie Gardner. John and Sadie Gardner, A
bb and Jul ie Townsend, Tom and Cleve Brooks, the Brooks both died with f
lu during t he epidemic in 1915. When Grandpa Baker sold the old home plac
e, he reserv ed one acre of land near the church, for a cemetery, now kno
wn as Waysid e, in Cook community.
I only have two cousins in Eastland County. I married Lula Mae Smit
h, Se ptember 10, 1933. Lula Mae's parents are J M and Dorah Pearl Smi
th of Eas tland. We have two sons, Darrell Gene, 50 years old of Eastla
nd and Lonn ie Joe. We celebrated our Golden Wedding Anniversary Septemb
er 10, 198 3. I still have Basham Electric and Refrigeration now for ov
er forty yea rs and Lula Mae still has a Beauty Shop for over thirty year
s. We li ve in the old Smith home place at 1416 S Lamar in Eastland Eastla
