His paternal grandparents were George Clifton Basham and Amanda A. Jones. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named John William Brammer, Bill Noah, Franklin Delano, Living, Ora Elizabeth, Mary Ethel, Beverly Bayne, Okie, Annie, Living and Living.
