Dicie was born on February 8th, 1893 in Purmela, Coryell Co., Texas.1 Dicie's father was John A. Basham and her mother was Frances Cordelia Mason. Her paternal grandparents were Coffey Jones Basham and Julia Ann Waggoner. She had two brothers and four sisters, named R. J., Delia (Twin), Julia E., Dona (Twin), Amy and Frances.
