Barnett A. was born in 1829 in Breckenridge Co., Kentucky.1 Barnett A.'s father was Littleberry Basham and his mother was Mary (Polly) Basham. His paternal grandparents were Bartlett Angel, Jr. Basham and Nancy Susan Farmer; his maternal grandparents were William Basham and Sarah Sally Shrewsbury. He had four brothers and a sister, named William Harrison, Manoah Stone, Cary Jackson 'Jack', Henry Blades and Matilda. He was the second youngest of the six children.
