Arline was born in 1909.1 Arline's father was Robert Matthew Basham and her mother was Pearle Kent. Her paternal grandparents were John Pickens Basham and Mary Jane Brown; her maternal grandparents are John Kent and Cynthia Phillips. She had a brother and a sister, named Merle Percy and Thelma.
