Alice E. Basham 
Alice E. was born on May 7th, 1868 in Shasta Co., California.1 Alice E.'s father was Greene Berry Basham and her mother was Eliza Ann Conway. Her paternal grandparents were Pleasant (Rev) Basham and Matilda Miller. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Francis Alvia (Frank), Son (Twin), Elbert H (Bert), William Pleasant, Ellis, Anna H. (Annie), Gertrude (Nana), Florence L., Ida E and Edna. She was the fourth oldest of the eleven children. She died at the age of 15 on February 19th, 1884 in California.1 General Notes

Headline: "Sad Death"
Word reaches us of the death of Miss Alice Bassham which occur
ed at Tr inity Center on Tuesday last, from typhoid fever, after only a f
ew days il lness. Dr. Nutting was summoned from Scott Valley but only arri
ved as t he patient was breathing her last. Alice was a sweet girl of 16 y
ears-bo rn and reared in Weaverville-and with her sorrowing parents, broth
ers a nd sisters this community deeply sympathizes. It seems hard indeed t
hat o ne so young and fair should be stricken by the hand of death.
