William Garrett, Sr. Barr 
William Garrett, Sr. was born on February 23rd, 1898 in Browns Valley, Kentucky.1 William Garrett, Sr.'s father was George Roland, Jr. Barr and his mother was Ellen McDellan Knott. His paternal grandparents are George Roland, Sr. Barr and Martha Hayden; his maternal grandparents were Frederick Martin Knott and Sarah Jane (Jennie) Payne. He had six brothers and six sisters, named Joseph Martin Barr, George Roland III, Martin Raphael, Robert Aloysius, Charles Hilary, Denis Anthony, Genevieve, Martha Imogene, Mary Ethel, Mary Alma, Virginia "Jennie Mae" Mary and Theresa Margaret. He was the second oldest of the thirteen children. He died at the age of 72 on February 17th, 1971 in Whitesville, Kentucky. He was buried in St. Anthony's Catholic Cem., Browns Valley, Daviess Co., Kentucky.1 1 General Notes
