Levi was born in 1800 in Kentucky.1 Levi's father was Batlett Asher and his mother is Margaret Curry. His paternal grandfather was William Asher and his paternal grandmother is Anna Barlett. He had six brothers and five sisters, named William, Daniel, Thomas, Barlett Jr., Edmund, John, Catherine, Mary Jane, Caroline, Alice and Mary Ann.
