General Notes

Mildred Goodrich's notes has the wife's name as Esther McCorkle.  She may be a second wife but the 1860 census has a Susan. and the marriage record of his daughter says her parents were William and Eliza Porter.

A researcher found a 1880 census showing William and Mary Porter living in the Greenbrier AL m house...I am assuming this is a poor farm.  He is 75 and she is 70 they are listed as paupers.  They both state that their father was born in Ireland and their mother Virginia...I though  that this was William G but his wife's name was Sarah, not Mary. do you know who this is? I also have a John Porter, also living there and he is 72  And he states his father was either from Virginia or Pennsylvania and his mother from Pennsylvania
