Philocles Gauthier 
Philocles was born on November 11th, 1843 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.1 He died at the age of 53 on March 8th, 1897 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. He was buried in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Cottonport, Louisiana.1 1
‌Philocles and Celinie were married in a religious ceremony on October 12th, 1865 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.1

Shortly after their marriage, they settled on a plantation on Bayou Sauvage close to Cottonport, Louisiana.
The 1870 Census shows this couple living next door to Pierre & Eugenie Ducote. There were 2 child at home, Victor and Jules. Also living with th em was Philocles' widowed mother, Marguerite Juneau.
