OBITUARY-
Martha J. Payne was born Sept. 13 near Bloomington, Indiana. She departed this life March 8, 1932 near Liberal, Kansas, at the home of her son with whom she has spent the past 6 months. Age 79 years, 5 months and 24 days. Born of Christian parents she was baptized in infancy, joined the Methodist Episcopal church and lived true to her faith through out her life. Although for a number of years unable to attend church services, she was interested in having others attend, and always enjoyed having those visiting in the home sing sacred songs for her. At the time of her death she was a member of the Methodist church of Hesston.
She grew to womanhood in Indiana and Illinois. On Dec. 10, 1874 she was married to James H. Glover of Santa Anna, Illinois. Her husband preceeded her in death nearly 35 years ago. Their early married life was spent in Ohio. Later the family moved to Johnson County, Missouri where they lived until death separated them in 1897.
To this union were born nine children of whom eight survive; Frank, and Fred, Hutchinson, Walter of Liberal, Kansas, Mrs. Estella Dunsworth of Ashtabula, Ohio, Bert, and Mrs. Lillian Dick of Liberal, Kansas, Mrs. Arletta Blosser of Halstead and Mrs. Hazel E. Terrell of Del Norte, Colorado.
After the death of her husband she moved with her family to Reno County, Kansas, in January of 1899. Here she lived until 1913 when she moved to Oklahoma, where she made her home until 1916 when she came to live with her daughter Mrs. Arletta Blosser and family of Halstead, Kansas.
With the exception of several short intervals spent among her other children, she has made her home here in a community where she has won the respect and love of many.
She leaves to mourn their loss one brother W. W. Payne of Hutchinson, Kansas and five sisters.

A place is vacnat in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled,
The boon his love had given,
And though the body slumbers
here,
Her soul is safe in Heaven."
