George McDaniel Served in the War of 1812 in Capt. Cornelius Sale's Company. He served at Camp Carter (located a few miles from Richmond, Virginia) and the records indicate that the distance from Camp Carter to his place of abode was 140 miles. Lt. McDaniel received pay of $30 per month. An application made by John J. McDaniel son of George McDaniel for the land bounty as provided in the last will and testament of George McDaniel. This land bounty was issued August 9, 1851, and is for 80 acres of land. The number of this land bounty is 11237. The legal papers pursuant to this bounty indicate that Elizabeth McDaniel was the widow of the late George McDaniel and her signature is attested to by one Edward Marsh.

"In the Name of God Amen
I, George McDaniel, being of weak and feeble body but of sound mind and reason do make, constitute and appoint this my last will and testament.
1st. i will and bequeath to my beloved son Joseph H. McDaniel, to my daughter Mary Francis McDaniel intermarried with William M Ware of Virginia, and to my grand son John Preston McDaniel each one dollar.
2nd. I will and bequeath to my beloved son John J. McDaniel all that portion of my deceased brother Lindsey McDaniel's estate, which he bequeathed to me in his will, to be used by him said John J. McDaniel for the support and maintenance of my beloved wife Elizabeth McDaniel during her natural life, and at her death, whatever remains to be his said John J. McDaniel, his heirs and assigns absolutely forever.
3rd I do hereby appoint John J. McDaniel sole executor of this my last will and testament.
In testimony whereof, I hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of two witnesses will write their names hereto at my request on the nineteenth day of January A.D. 1850

Whereas I, George McDaniel, having made and duly executed my last will and testament in writing hearing date January the 19th, 1850, now I do hereby declare this writing to be a codicile to my said will and direct the same to be annexed thereto and be taken as part thereof, i do hereby give bequeath to John J. McDaniel, my beloved son, bounty land warrant that accrued to me for service in the British War of 1814 & 1815. In witness whereof I, the said George McDaniel, have to this codicile set my hand & seal this November the 8th 1850.
