Harve enlisted in the 8th (Smith's) Cavalry, Company G, Army of theMississippi, CSA, 27 Sep 1862.
He was wounded at Perryville, KY, Oct 1862. His hand was injured and aforefinger was blown off at the first knuckle. He was part of the rearguard during a retreat near Cumberland (Lusk's) Gap. When charged uponhis horse fell on him severely injuring his ankle breaking 3 ribs andrupturing his stomach. This is from his pension application in 1916.
He was reassigned to Horse Artillery, White's Battery for a few weeks and then discharged.
Harve and Lidey moved to Robertson Co., TN about 1869.
