"The regiment of Galmoy was formed on 27th Februdary 1698 from the debrisof the regiments of Charlemont and the Queen of Englands foot dragoons."Piers Butler was the Colonel.  He had "fought with the Jacobites duringthe war in Ireland, serving as colonel of the 2nd Regiment of Horse andlater Major General of Horse", which was commanded until it was disbandedat the end of the Nine Years War in 1698.
