Amy was born in 1782 in Prince Edward Co., VA.1   Amy's father was Reynold Brightwell and her mother is Druscilla Allmand.  Her paternal grandfather is Reynold Brightwell; her maternal grandfather is Thomas Allmand. She had a brother and two sisters, named William, Elizabeth and Lucy.  She is the second oldest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Barnett, Charles and Nancy.
