02/26/84. Merchant Hope, ship that brought Richard Anderson to Va. in
1635. His sons John and Thomas were in the shipbuilding business in
Gloucester Pt., Va. In 1645, robert anderson, John's son became first
Anderson born in Va. He was destined to take a 700 acre land grant on
south branch of Pamunkey River and turn it into 5000 acre Goldmine
plantation. For more, read above article, copy on file at the Albemarle
County Historical society office, Charlottesville, Va. Note: I am
seeking info on THOMAS Anderson who settled in Gloucester Pt. for a short
while, married Frances Jones and moved to 'Laurel Branch' in Caroline
County, Virginia. My descendants are Mostly Hanover County, Va. based
(may have been Louisa, Hanover, Caroline Co).RUBROC2@@aol.com
I have not had the opportunity to examine the article referred to
above to determine what supporting evidence it gives that this John
Anderson is the father of Robert Anderson of Goldmine but this is in
disagreement with at least two other authors (see info for Richard
Anderson, Jr.) so I simply display this record here that you may research
it own your own should the opportunity present itself before I have such
an opportunity.
