He came to New Amsterdam in 1631. In 1636 he obtained a grant from Gov. Van Twiler for a farm in the bowerie of 62 acres, the current site located on Wall St
eet in New York City. Roelof was born in Marstrand, on an island.Marstrand was
a historic section of Norway that was ceded to Sweden in 1658. He was an emplo
ee of the West India Company and was also a seaman.
‌Roeloff Jansen and Anneke were married in a religious ceremony on April 18th, 1623 in Nieuw Kerk, Amsterdam, North Holland.1 They had a daughter named Sarah.
