Hello All,
In connection with this particular project, Rosie has extracted information from DD which furthers this search a bit further. This identifies the father of Joan, wife of John de Birkin (d. 1227) as Jordan L'enveise or Lenveise, who held fees of the honours of Old Wardon, co. Beds. and Ros in Helmsley, co. Yorks. [1]. Further, another daughter of Jordan L'enveise was Dionesia (aka Denise), wife of Hubert de Anesty: this provides the connection to Nicholas de Anesty, another kinsman of Roger de Arundel identified in the fine of 19 September 1222 [2]. K.S.B. Keats-Rohan conjectured further re: Jordan L'Enveise, "His wife was perhaps a sister of Master Roger Arundel", without further elaboration.
The following provides the current known descents (to 5 generations) from Jordan L'enveise, including Everingham of Laxton and Munchensi of Swanscombe.
As always, any additional documentation, comment or criticism is welcome. Cheers, John *

Dear John [Ravilious]
Thanks for presenting this additional information. EYC X pp.170/172 (Trussebut fee), XI pp196-202 (Percy fee) and XII pp.144-146 (Tison fee) treats the descendants of William Arundel, who in 1166 was a tenant of William Percy in Yorkshire and held a fee consisting of land in Foston on the Wolds, Nafferton, and Auburn in the wapentake of Dickering, as well as land in Scorborough, wap. Harthill and Sneaton, wap. Whitby Strand. William, probably son of John de Arundel who witnessed charters of Alan I de Percy and William de Percy II, was father of Mag. Roger de Arundel and his three sister and coheirs.
The following pedigree sums up the information given in these three volumes. The details on the Munchensy family come from CP IX 421-424.
