Blackford 1-8-1793. Wm Blkfd married Sarah Cleaver 13-9-1802 Nelson Co. KY.
Wm. Cleaver owned land next to Joseph Blkfd, 1787. Also listed in Nelson Co.KY
Tithables 1788--Joseph Blackford just east of Bardstown, 1 tithable, 17885--2T
Wm. Blkfd in court,Warrick Co IN Oct 1822 & 1823 for gambling.

The first log cabin of which we have any proof was built in 1780 on what was called Muddy Creek, afterwards Blackford's Creek because the cabin was built by a man named Blackford.  It also became well-known in consequence of a man named Cleaver, who while with a hunting party, died there.

An act for erecting a new county out of the County of hardin.  Approved on December 17, 1798
Be it enacted by the General Assembly that from and after the first day of July next, all the part of the county of Hardin that is included in the following bounds, viz:  Beginning on the Ohio River at the mouth of Blackford's Creek, thence up the same to the head of the southeast fork that ------------------ .
