‌Alexander and Eleanor were married in a religious ceremony on July 24th, 1834.  They had six sons and five daughters, named Robert Alexander, John Thomas, William Henry, Edward Smith, George Washington, Samuel Floyd, Martha Jane, Nancy Ann, Elizabeth Rachel, Leah Goff and Ella Rosetta.
